Workshop Description
Pre-Requisite – RN/RPN and IEN (International Educated Nurses)
The Five (5) days, advanced diabetic nursing foot care workshop is specially designed for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) to help them realize the importance of Diabetic Nursing and Footcare. The workshop is delivered by a team of experts in their relevant field and maintains a balance of theoretical lectures and practical demonstrations throughout the session to carefully disseminate the knowledge to the workshop participants. One of the most critical complications of Diabetes, is diabetic foot care, which is often ignored by the patient and thus remains undiagnosed for a long period of time leading to severe complications and sometimes amputation of the lower leg.
About Workshop
As per the survey on diabetes, millions of patients worldwide are affected by diabetes. With the many patients diagnosed with diabetes, approximately 90% will die as a result of complications of diabetes, including gangrene, amputation of the foot. The nurse can play a very important role in providing effective foot care treatment in collaboration with the client, and the multidisciplinary team in the management of patients diagnosed with diabetes.
This course follows current best practice guidelines and evidence-based practice regarding foot care treatment and assessment.
The Basic, Advanced and Diabetic nursing foot care workshop aims at improving the understanding and the knowledge of the health care professionals working in the medical and the health care industry. The workshop because of its rich content and the plethora of knowledge is bifurcated into the Basic diabetic nursing foot care workshop and Advanced diabetic nursing foot care workshop for the ease of understanding and absorption of knowledge:

The Five (5) day workshop by industry experts will touch upon the following topics:
- Understanding the basic and advanced complications of diabetic foot problem
- How to identify and differentiate between basic and advanced complications of diabetic foot issue.
- Demonstrating physical examination of lower legs due to diabetes complications
- Physical Identification, assessment, and common system of complications of leg arising out of diabetes
- Learning about different tools and equipment to be used in curing and taking care of feet
- Record maintenance of patients
- Identifying and understanding study material related to the prevention and treatment of diabetic feet.
