Workshop Description
This one-day course will review health assessment using a systems approach and will include how to do a head-to-toe assessment. Participants will practice focused health assessments in a simulation laboratory. A laboratory component is included in the course allows the learners to practice newly acquired nursing skills. Healthcare professionals in the Adult Physical Assessment Workshop will expand their current knowledge and skills in order to perform a basic physical assessment of the adult more comfortably.
Using a comprehensive learning format, the participants at the workshop will briefly review the basic anatomy and physiology of an adult human body. They can also observe and participate in a demonstration of physical examination techniques and then practice those techniques. Common health deviations will be reviewed.
About Workshop
This course is designed to help nurses to refine their interviewing skills in conducting holistic health assessments to obtain relevant data to complete health history and perform physical assessments across the adult lifespan. The workshop content will focus on cultural diversity, communication, safety, therapeutic nurse-client relationships, history taking, and basic techniques and skills in performing physical and psychosocial assessments.
