Participation Requirements-

 The Ontario Government announced the 2022 Personal Support Worker (PSW) Challenge Fund, an investment of up to $54.7 million to train up to 4,000 additional personal support workers through private career colleges.

Financial support under the 2022 PSW Challenge Fund will be available to new students who start their training in a PSW program at a participating OSAP approved private career colleges between June 1 and September 30, 2022.

Eligible students may qualify for up to $13,690 in financial support which includes:

• Bursaries of up to $7,725 for tuition, books, and other mandatory fees, and

• A stipend of up to $5,965 as a paid placement.

Funding for the 2022 PSW Challenge Fund will be administered through OSAP, and students will need to apply through www.OSAP.ca to be assessed for program eligibility.

Funding-

•   Funding under the 2022 PSW Challenge Fund is time-limited and is only available to PSW students enrolled in training that begins between June 1, 2022, and September 30, 2022.

Funding under the 2022 PSW Challenge Fund will consist of:

•      A student tuition bursary issued directly to the Institution on behalf of the student that will cover the actual program cost charged by the Institution, including tuition, books, and other mandatory program fees in the amount of up to $7,725.

•   The student tuition bursary will be issued to the Institution in one payment based on the payment schedule. Payments will be made once institutions have completed the electronic confirmation of enrolment process

•     A student stipend for paid placements (maximum number of hours 310 hours X $19.25 per hour) in the amount of up to $5,965 issued to the Institution. The practicum/placement host will pay the student for the practicum period and invoice the Institution for the amount of the student stipend.

•    If the stipend amount that the student receives from the placement host costs more than $19.25 per hour maximum the placement host is responsible for the additional costs.
