First Aid & CPR Certification Workshop Description
The importance of Basic First Aid and CPR training is underestimated. Basic First Aid and CPR training has proven to be lifesaving in emergency situations. Enrolled participants will be educated about proper emergency procedures and steps that need to be taken in case of an emergency until Emergency Medical Services arrive.
We offer the following classes at our campus.
- CPR level A/B/C & AED
- BLS Provider Level C
- Emergency First Aid with CPR & AED
- Standard First Aid with CPR & AED
- Standard First Aid with CPR & AED Re-certification.
About Workshop
We offer the following classes at our campus.
- CPR level A/B/C & AED– Educate participants with the basics of CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and how to respond in other emergency situations such as heart attack or choking. CPR/AED follows the ILCOR 2015 guidelines. Certification is valid for 3 years. Annual renewal is recommended.
- BLS Provider Level C– if you are a part of professional first responders’ team, this is the right course for you. The participants such as paramedics and firefighters, or hospital and clinic healthcare workers, like nurses and doctors will acquire skills crucial for carrying out Basic Life Support measures. This course follows the ILCOR 2015 guidelines. Certification is valid for 3 years. Annual re-training is recommended.
- Emergency First Aid with CPR & AED – This one-day course is designed to educate citizens about how to recognize and provide assistance in life-threatening situations until Emergency Medical Services arrive. This course is approved federally by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and provincially by each applicable WSIB/WCB. The certification is valid for 3 years from the date of the course.
- Standard First Aid with CPR & AED – This two-day course is designed to educate citizens about how to prevent emergencies and how to react and assist if an emergency arises until Emergency Medical Services arrive on the scene. This course is approved federally by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and provincially by each applicable WSIB/WCB. The certification is valid for 3 years from the date of the course.
- Standard First Aid with CPR & AED Re-certification – We offer 1-day Standard First Aid Recertification Course for individuals who currently hold a valid Standard First Aid with CPR & AED certification. Only individuals who hold a valid (not-expired) certification will be allowed to enroll in this course.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recall applicable legislation.
- Identify communicable diseases.
- Discuss airway, breathing, circulation.
- Discuss rescue breathing.
- Apply CPR skills.
- Recognize symptoms of heart attack and stroke.
- Identify and deal with choking (conscious/unconscious).
- Recognize symptoms of shock and how to treat it.
- Check for wounds and bleeding.
- Check for muscular/skeletal emergencies.
- Check for head and spinal emergencies.
- Recognize burns.
- Identify respiratory emergencies.
- React to poisoning.
- Apply triage techniques.
- Apply crisis intervention techniques.
