Truck Driving School

This program includes all mandatory objectives set forth in the Ministry of Transportation’s Commercial Truck Driver Training Standard (Class A), released July 2016. Subjects of the program include:

• Employment in the Commercial Vehicle Industry
• Vehicle Components & Systems
• Basic Driving Techniques
• Professional Driving Habits
• Vehicle Inspection
• Off-Road Tasks and Maneuvers
• Documents and Paperwork
• Hours of Service Compliance
• Cargo Settlement and Loss prevention
• Handling Emergencies
• National safety code standards
•  Air Brake Endorsement

Program Highlights

• The environmental conditions that affect equipment performance
• Basic operating and vehicle maneuvering skills to ensure they are confident behind the wheel.
• The rules and practices for safe operation.
• Students will gain the skills required to obtain a commercial driver position Within the transportation sector.
• Experienced instructors with years of industry experience.
• Emphasis on one-on-one & practical hands-on training on the road.
• Industry recognition for skilled employees.
• Small class sizes that encourage dialogue and discussion.
• Flexible class schedules (weekday evenings and weekend classes available).
• The program will include 67 hours of practical training in the yard.

Competent drivers must know not only how to operate the particular class of equipment to which they have been assigned but also be aware of hazards associated with the work they have been asked to do They will be able to operate equipment in a manner that protects both their own safety and the safety of others in their workplace.
